Mission Statement:

At the Addiction Prevention Coalition, our mission is to create a healthier and safer Alabama by preventing substance abuse and promoting recovery. We are dedicated to empowering individuals, families, and communities to make informed choices and take proactive steps toward a substance-free lifestyle.

Through our comprehensive programs and initiatives, we aim to address the complex challenges of addiction and provide support at various levels. Here are some of the key programs we execute in Alabama:

Prevention Education:

We believe that knowledge is power. Our prevention education programs aim to equip individuals with the information and skills needed to make healthy choices, understand the risks of substance abuse, and build resilience against addiction.

Community Outreach:

We actively engage with communities across Alabama, fostering partnerships and collaborations to create a united front against substance abuse. Our community outreach initiatives involve raising awareness, providing resources, and organizing events that promote prevention and recovery.

Youth Empowerment:

By providing peer-led and adult supervised groups in high schools, leadership development and prevention event planning our youth-focused programs empower young individuals to make positive life choices and resist the pressures of substance abuse. By providing mentorship, educational workshops, and recreational activities, we strive to create a supportive environment where young people can thrive.

Treatment Referral:

Recognizing the importance of access to quality treatment services, we facilitate connections between individuals in need and appropriate treatment providers. Our referral programs ensure that individuals seeking recovery have access to the resources and support necessary for their journey.

Advocacy & Policy Change:

We actively advocate for evidence-based policies and reforms that promote addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery. By working with lawmakers and community leaders, we strive to create a supportive environment that fosters lasting change.

Harm Reduction

We partner with other resource organizations and host 'Pop Up Resource Fairs' in overdose hot spots where we offer information dissemination on prevention, intervention and family support. We also offer free Fentanyl Test Strips and JCDH offers free Narcan training and kits.

At the Addiction Prevention Coalition, we believe in the power of prevention, education, and community engagement to combat addiction. Together, we can build a healthier and addiction-free Alabama for generations to come.
